Tyler plays a custom drum kit from Ayotte Drums of Canada (Also favoured by Canadian stars Our Lady Peace, and Tragically Hip). This is the kit Tyler got for the Maroon tour. During the Stunt tour, he had a silver kit (pictured below).

The red kit are Ayotte WoodHoop drums with a Red Sparkle finish. The kit began with a Maroon 'Eye' bass drum head. Once they went on the Greatest Hits tour, Tyler changed the bass head to the red star image. After recording Everything To Everyone, He got a new bass head of an E2E flag with 'E2E' written on it (see below for a photo). He got a new drum kit for the Peep Show tour, but this one has shown up on TV appearances such as Leno and Sharon Osbourne. He has since put a snowflake head on the front and used the kit for the 2004 and 2005 Barenaked for the Holidays North American tours.

For some songs like Baby Seat, and Helicopters, Tyler actually uses a sampled sound (played via a pad) instead of his snare.

MD: "... I'm thinking the look and balance of your red sparkle Ayotte kit is important to you."
TS: "Totally. It's funny you would notice that because when I was a kid practicing in the basement on my starter Pearl kit, I used to experiment with positioning of toms and stuff - even take pictures of it to make sure everything looked right. When you're young, the asthetic thing is more important to you. Now I set up for ease of play."

I'm not a drummer, so I can't say anything specific on the arrangement or positioning of the drums. If you have any information about what makes Tyler's setup unique, feel free to contact me (link on the menu to the left).
